Wantable Intimates March 2014

Wantable Intimates March 2014

I decided to do another month of Wantable Intimates.  Mostly because I forgot to skip the month, but partially because I did a major clean-out of my underwear drawer and need new things to fill it!

First Look
This box arrived a day earlier than I expected, which was nice.  It showed up on Feb. 28, I have just been slacking on writing this review ;).

Muk Luks Footless Tights, black
First up, footless tights by Muk Luks.  I can always use more plain black tights, and I like that these are footless.

$15

Sweet Dots Hipster by Icy Hot
These are pretty cute! I like the grey dots and the rouching.  I was a little confused because these were a size M, and I have my preferences set to S, but they fit well.  Maybe this brand runs small, and Wantable sent me the size up because of it?

$8.99

Betsey Johnson Luscious Lite Cami Tap Set- Shorts
Last up is a cami and tap short set from Betsey Johnson.  I apologize for not having a picture of everything in the box together, but this set got put on right away.  It was Friday night.  The pants were coming off, blog pictures be damned!

Betsey Johnson Luscious Lite Cami Tap Set- Cami

Betsey Johnson Luscious Lite Cami Tap Set- Together

I like this set.  It's light and comfortable and the material is nice and soft.  It will be great in the summer, but I didn't want to wait until then to wear it.

$59

This box totaled to $82.99.  This is a better value than the $36 I paid for it, but I do have a little bit of a bone to pick with Wantable.  Because the items you receive are picked based on your profile, all of the boxes vary WILDLY in overall value from person to person.  I've seen March boxes value over $110, and some as low as $70.  Another pair of underwear would have brought this total closer to the high, and I would have been a little happier.  I do like everything I got this month, at least.  But, would I pay $9 for the tights, $9 for the underwear, and $9 for each piece of the set? I don't think I would.  I can get tights cheaper, underwear cheaper, and that exact set was on Hautelook a few days ago for more than half off the suggested MSRP.

If you think Wantable is for you, I suggest you give it a try.  The boxes are highly customizable and the overall value is there.  It is $40 for a one-time purchase, $36 with a subscription.  You can skip whatever months you want to.

Wantable Intimates Box, January 2014

Wantable Intimates Review, January 2014

Well, I did TRY to be good and not buy another Wantable box... but then I saw they were featuring FLEECE-LINED TIGHTS for January and I needed them.

How Time Flies

This month, I received the following items:

Wantable Cable Knit Footless Fleece Lined Tights.

PSA: Tights and Leggings ARE NOT PANTS

These are gray and have small cables and are generally just perfect for my winter wardrobe.  Fleece-lined tights are the BEST in for New England winters.  These are a lot nicer than the other pair I have and I know I will get a lot of use out of them.

Wantable lists these for $24.

After these, everything else in the bag was eh.  I'll wear everything, but I'm not in love with anything.

St. Eve Seamless Boyshort Pink Stripe, $9.  You can buy this brand at Kohl's for about $5 a pair.

St. Eve

If these were solid instead of striped (and white), I would like these a lot more.  They look comfy, though, and I'll wear them... I just don't like them as much as I could have in a different color.

Q-T Intimates Thong, Pink Print with Bow, $12.

Q-T Intimates

I don't like this thong.  I might wear it, but it is so far from my style it's not even funny.  GIANT BOW?! Black and hot pink and lace and polka dots?! It's all too much.  I'm not 16, I'm a decade past the age where I would pick something like this out.  I think I need to go edit my Wantable profile!

Last, but not least, is a PACT Racerback Tank in Tomato.  $36

PACT Racerback

I wrote a haiku about this tank:

This is long and drapes
This is organic and soft
The colors are fug

That sums it up.  I do appreciate that PACT uses part of its profits to contribute to various charities.  The cause they are supporting with this tank is in conjunction with Whole Kids Foundation to fund Urban Gardens Across America.  This brings gardens to low-income areas.

I'll wear the tank, but probably not in public.

All together, January Wantable Intimates Box

All in all, I should have just gone to Marshall's or TJ Maxx and bought some more fleece tights.  I could have saved some money.  I paid $36 for the box, and it had a stated value of $81, but that is higher than it should be.

Wantable is $36 per month with a subscription or $40 for a one-time purchase.  If you do subscribe, you can skip as many months as you want, and cancel at any time.  Wantable also has a makeup box and an accessories box for the same price.  If you want, you can use my referral link here and I will get $10 off of a future box :)

Wantable Intimates December 2013 Review

Wantable always ships really early, so my box usually shows up just before the first of the month!  It's what starts off the influx of sub boxes, and I'm happy to see it!

This is my third month, which is when I usually decide whether or not to continue to subscribe.  Wantable is $36 per month for subscribers, so it is a little more expensive than other (just) underwear subscriptions.  I feel that because the quality of this box is higher, and they send other items, it is worth a go every now and then.  I think I'll be skipping two months, and get this every third month instead.  That will make me feel better about the cost.

On to the items...

Bella + Canvas Two-Tone Raglan Hooded Sweatshirt

This is a nice sweatshirt from Bella + Canvas.  I just wish it was a solid color!  I'm not really a fan of the baseball-style two-tone colors.  The main part is baby blue and the sleeves and hood are navy blue.  It fits well, besides being a teeny smidge too short, and is comfy.  It isn't lined with fleece or anything, which I would have preferred.

Bella + Canvas Hoodie on a person (me).
Bella + Canvas Hoodie, MSRP $38

Next up is a pair of briefs.  You can adjust your profile so that Wantable will send items you "love" and "like", but not items that you "dislike."  This month I switched around my profile so I would get more loungewear, hosiery, and non-thong underwear, and fewer tights, camis, shapewear, and absolutely no socks, soft bras, and accessories.  This seemed to work, as I only got items from my "love" preferences.

Montelle Boyleg in Aqua

This pair of boyshorts is really nice!  I like the aqua color and the lace details.  They are really comfortable and look great on.  Sometimes you have underwear that rides a little low in the back, but not this pair!  These are my new favorites.

Montelle Boylegs, MSRP $28.

OnGossamer Bikini in Tangerine
This pair of bikini-style underwear is something I normally would not buy.  It is extremely thin material, and with my paleness I tend to stay away from neon orange clothing.  These also look super tiny, almost like they won't fit.  However, I am happy to report that they are very stretchy and are really comfortable.  I still am not crazy about the color, but I can deal with it.

OnGossamer Bikinis, MSRP $22.

Kix'ies Thigh High Stockings in Kimmie
I was really happy to see these thigh highs in this month's box!  They have an interesting argyle pattern, but feel like they are made well.  These will be cute to wear under some of my winter dresses from Golden Tote.

Kix'ies Thigh Highs, with stay-up tops
The tops of this set of stockings are made from a wide stripe of silicone, so they will stay put without needing a garter belt (or a lot of tugging).  This is a nice feature that I appreciate.

Kix'ies Stockings, MSRP $18.95

Wantable Intimates Box, December 2013
All together this box had a value of $106.95 and I paid $36.  I think if the colors of the sweatshirt were better, I would be more satisfied with this box.  Right now, I'm a little disappointed that I only loved two items, and the other two are just ok.

Like I said, I think I'm going to skip most months, and just get this once a quarter.  Fortunately, Wantable's system lets you do this without any penalty- skip or cancel at any time.

If you would like to try Wantable, now is the time!  If you sign up for any subscription (Makeup, Accessories, or Intimates) before December 3rd, you will get your second box FREE.  After your first box is paid for, you will get $36 credited to your account for the second month.  That means you get 2 months for only $36, which is an *awesome* deal.  If you would like to sign up using my link HERE, I will get a $10 credit.

Wantable Intimates Box, November 2013

This is my second Wantable Intimates box.  They always ship these a few days before the start of the month, so this is for November!  Boy, these months are flying by!

This costs $40 for a one-time purchase or $36 for a monthly subscription, where you can skip a month or cancel at any time.  You fill out a very detailed profile with what clothing items and styles you like, as well as colors, sizes, etc.  If you are interested, please use my link here!  I'll get a $10 credit for everyone who joins with that link.

Upon first look, I wasn't thrilled:

Muk Luks Tights in Plum

Tights.  I don't really wear tights.  These are a dark plum and are ribbed and I'm not sure that I'll wear them.  Now, this label says Muk Luks and the info sheet I was sent says they are by Izabella. It seems that they are one and the same?  I'm not sure, but these sell for about $10.50 at Target, yet Wantable listed them valued at $19.

Things got better with the next item I pulled out:

Undies Couture by Lauren Copeland Lace Hipster in Black

This is a black lace hipster by Undies Couture, which seems to be part of Coobie.  Again, the tag and the info sheet don't match up except for in description.  Googling seems to confirm that Coobie is in charge of the Undies Couture line.  Either way, these are really nice!  They fit well, and unlike a lot of hipsters, they actually stay up past my butt crack.  I feel like I have permanent plumbers' crack with some of the lace hipsters I have! These fit and are very comfortable.

Wantable lists this retail price at $14.

Next came another pair of undies:

Jockey Clean Edge Cheeky Fit Microfiber Stretch Boyshort

I am not in love with the pattern, but I love seamless and clean edge undies! These will definitely get worn, I have a few pairs like this that I wear often and it's nice to have another. I haven't tried them on yet, but the material feels soft and like it would be virtually unnoticeable while wearing.

The tag on them says $12 or 3 for $30.  Wantable went with the individual value of $12, but I'll call it $10 in my overall total.

The last item is by far my favorite, and I'm glad that I pulled it out last!  This totally makes the box worth it to me, and I will stick around for another month based upon this item alone.

Betsey Johnson Luscious Knit and Chiffon Slip in Black, Front

Betsey Johnson Luscious Knit and Chiffon Slip, Back.

It's a Betsey Johnson slip!  It has some bow details on the front and back, some tiny rose details where the shoulder traps meet the front, and some chiffon inserts to add some sex appeal.  There is a bra closure in the middle of the back, and the rest is cut away to the hip line.

This is absolutely something that I would have picked out for myself, but put back on the rack when I saw the price!  It fits perfectly and is very comfortable and flattering.  The material is so soft and it is sexy without being trashy or cheap-feeling.  It's just a really good quality slip that is already one of my favorites!

Suggested retail from Wantable (and the tag on it) is $65.

I paid $36 for (on the low end of the prices) $99.50 worth of wardrobe staples.

I'm really impressed with the items I received this month, and with some tweaking to my profile, I hope next month will be equally awesome, or better!

Wantable Intimates Box October 2013 Review

While I didn't get in on the ground level because their inaugural Intimates box sold out so fast, I did manage to sign up in time for Wantable's October box.  (That link is my personal referral link, I will get $10 towards a box if you sign up using it.)  They will send you 4-5 basic staples each month.

What's inside?!

Wantable is $40 per month for a one-time purchase, or you can subscribe for $36.  They also have an accessories box with jewelry and such, and a makeup box.  You can personalize your selections from a list of item categories (bras, underwear, shape-wear, etc) and styles within those (colorful, classic, comfy, etc).

Coobie Seamless Camisole with Lace Trim (and removable pads)

This cami is one-size and is in a light nude color.  It has removeable pads and adjustable straps.  This retails for $24 according to Wantable.  I like it, I think it will be a nice thing to wear under some of my winter sweaters.

Fleur't Bralet in White/Nude

Oh man, this is so comfortable! I really like it, and it will be awesome for just lounging around the house.  I definitely don't have the chest to just wear something like this out and about; I need some padding or something so I look like an adult, but it's good for just relaxing.  I wouldn't pay $34 for it, like Wantable suggests it's worth, but I'm glad they sent it.

Braza Bra converting Clips

Um.  I told Wantable I didn't like accessories, for the specific reason that I didn't want these to show up in my box like they did in some of the September boxes.  These are a waste on me.  I have some nice convertible bras.  I don't need these, I won't use these, and I certainly would not value them at $10.  Fail, Wantable.  Fail.

Jockey Skimmies in Jet Grey

I think Wantable took my "love" under the "shape-wear" category pretty seriously.  I have that shaping cami and now these. That's ok, I wore them under a dress this afternoon and they were very comfy and lightly shaping.  I felt like it held in whatever jiggle I may have without making me feel like I was shoved into a sausage casing.  Plus, Jockey is a pretty respectable brand.  These were listed at a $20 retail value on the info sheet Wantable sent.

Total Value: $88

Overall, despite the hiccup with the bra clips, I was pretty happy with this box.  I feel like paying $36 for everything I got was worth it.  It's hard to value things like underwear- there's so little material, and yet you get charged an exorbitant amount of money for that little scrap of lace.  I think getting the brands that I did for about $12 each (discounting the abomination that is the bra clips), is still worth it.  Even at Marshall's or TJ Maxx, these things would be about that much.  Everything fit well according to the sizes that I put into my personalized quiz, which is amazing for things like bras!  Granted, nothing had a specific cup size, but it all fit nonetheless.

I'm going to get one more month of this and see how it goes.  It's a little expensive, but they send good quality staples that should last a long time.  The thing about subscription boxes is that you can't subscribe in the hopes of getting something specific- you will be disappointed. You need to go into it with the hope to discover something that you didn't know you need- and now you can't live without it.

All of the items in this post were paid for by me.  No special consideration or compensation was received for this post.  This post contains a referral link; see top paragraph for details.  If you sign up using any of my links, I will be eternally grateful, as I'm a poor grad student and a discount on a box is awesome.
