The Week in Nails, November 10

Water Marble

Base of Julep Alexandra, marbled with China Glaze Riveting, Essie Bordeaux, and Julep Charlie.  Julep Polymer top coat.  I wore this for two days.

Julep Lynn

2 coats of Julep Lynn and Polymer top coat.  I had to give a work presentation and didn't want my water marble to be distracting, so I went with my usual standby for demure nails.  I wore this for two days.

Orly Rock-It

Two coats of Orly Rock-It and no base or top.  I wore this for 3 days.  

This is the first time I have worn this polish, and I love it!  It has so much depth to the color.  My picture isn't the best, but it's a ruby color with a gold foil effect.  It wore really well, and I really like this brand's rubberized grip for the brush.  I bought this at Marshall's for $4.  Good deal!

My First Water-Marble

Preparation

First I used two coats of Julep Alexandra on all nails and let it dry. Next, I taped off all around my nails to make clean-up easier. 

Into a cup of water (stir first to break surface tension so the polish disperses) I dropped Essie Bordeaux, China Glaze Riveting, and Julep Charlie. For the first practice nails I also dropped in Julep Alexandra, to make it look like only parts of the nail were marbled. 

Starting off

Swirl the polish with a tooth pick until you get a pattern you like. Dip your nail into the patterned part of the polish that you like. With your finger still in the water, clear all of the excess polish away with a toothpick. 

Clean up and the final product

Pull your finger out of the water, remove the tape, and clean up any stray polish. Seal with a top coat and that's it!

This was easier than I expected, but it took a few tries for me to get the hang of it. I kept smudging the polish one way or another. 

The Week in Nails, October 26

essie sssssexy

Essie magnetic polish in sssssexy. Two coats of polish, last one with the magnet held over for about 15 seconds. My nails are pretty curved and so only part of each nail got patterne. It's still cool though! One day of wear, no base or top. 

Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips

These were Sally Hansen nail polish strips. I like these because they are so easy to use! I wore them for three days. 

Not a total removal...

This is what happened when I tried to remove them. On each nail, the white part came off easily and all of the black dots remained. They took a bit of muscle to get off!

Julep Valerie

Two coats of Julep Valerie from the October Maven box. No base, no top.  This picture is from day two, so there was a little tip wear. I had this on for three days.

Accent Nail China Glaze Deviantly Daring.  Green/teal duochrome.

Shades of Teal

In person this was a subtle accent nail.  I liked it.  I wore this for 1 day.


My October Julep Maven box came, so I tried out my new polishes (Cleopatra, black, and Valerie, green).

Julep Colors

Then, I decided to add Essie Luxe Effects in Shine of the Times over everything.  I wore this for like 4 days and got a lot of complements on it.

Perfect for October!

Naked nails for a day :( and then I bit them all off because life is stressful at the moment.

Nailtini in Mai Tai from Ipsy. 2 days.

This polish lasts a long time without chipping!

The Week in Nails, September 15

Pink Marble

I did a layer of OPI Do You Think I'm Texy, sponged on a little bit of Essie Bordeaux and Color Club Mod in Manhattan, and then another layer of OPI.  I repeated the sponging and the OPI.  Seche on top.

I wore this for 2 days.

Ruffian Manicure

I got Ruffian's Delirium in my September Birchbox and had to use it immediately! I did a free-hand Ruffian manicure over 2 coats of a no-name silver polish.  No Base, no top.  I did a second coat of Delirium after I took this picture.

I wore this for 2 days.

Duochrome is hidden from this picture

This is Catrice Genius in the Bottle, a gold to greenish-blue duochrome I picked up in Germany last summer.  This is 2 coats, no base or top, and it's still going strong 3 days later.  I'm going to change it tonight just because I'm bored.

The Week in Nails, September 8

First day of school

I did this last Sunday and it stayed on until Tuesday. 3 days. 

Julep Florence with Padma stamped and on accent nail from this month's Classic with a Twist Julep box.

Princess sparkles

I wore this for 2 days. 

3 coats Essie Lion Around and 2 coats China Glaze Prism on accent. No base, Seche on top. 

My first finger on this hand split down the middle! I have no idea why, but I cut it as close as I could and there is still a little that is split beyond that.  I'm going to try to be careful, and not have it split more, but I have a feeling this nail will be a short little nub for a while.  

Sweater weather

I barely got 2 days out of this before I was sick of it. I really want to like the fuzzy coat polish I bought.  I just don't.  

2 coats Revlon Scented in Cotton Candy. 2 coats Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat in Wool Lite. Seche in between the two glitter coats.
